Research Grade Products

Our growing research product range – Dead-Cert® – provides a series of simple solutions to the problems resulting from death of cells in vitro. Our products can be applied broadly to all applications in which animal or human cells are generated or used outside of the body. By detecting cell death accurately and by removing dead cells effectively – by emulating the processes of dead-cell clearance in vivo that keep all tissues healthy – cell populations in vitro can be functionally optimized for any application from cryopreservation to therapeutic delivery.

Our unique dead-cell removal technology provides you with the ability to remove inhibitory dead cells simply and effectively from any cell population thereby optimizing its storage, growth, productivity or functional activity.

Common applications of our dead-cell removal system include:

  • Improving quality of cells for banking (cell banks go further, last longer)
  • Accelerating revival and growth of cryopreserved cells
  • Promoting survival and growth of sensitive cell types
  • Improving protein productivity – eg antibodies/recombinant proteins
  • Accelerate cell-line establishment – eg from primary cells or following transfection/drug selection
  • Improve RNA quality (or DNA, protein or other molecules that are degraded in dead cells)
  • Increase sensitivity of functional assays – eg for use in drug screening

We are currently developing our dead-cell removal technology for application to bioprocessing of clinical-grade cells and proteins. In partnership with the UK Technology Strategy Board, we are finalizing specification and manufacture of GMP-compliant dead-cell removal systems.

Applications include:

  • Improved quality of master cell banks and therapeutic cell banks
  • Accelerated seeding of producer cell cultures
  • Improved productivity of therapeutic proteins
  • Improved supply of therapeutic cells of high viability

 
Therapeutics Pipeline

By targeting the constituents and products of dying cells using our platform antibodies and polymers that bind selectively to dying and dead cells, we are developing a novel range of anti-cancer therapeutics aimed at high-grade, aggressive tumours. Because cell death is a frequent occurrence across a range of cancers we anticipate that this approach will yield novel anti-cancer therapeutics with efficacy across a range of tumour types and companion therapeutics to current approaches.
